The Anti-Tourist

I like to beat new paths for myself.

Are you an Anti-Tourist?

It all comes down to this.

If you're reading my blog, I'm going to take a guess and say you like to travel. If you like reading my blog (which I hope you do), I'm also going to guess that you enjoy my way of seeing the world.

But what is my way of seeing the world? Somehow, I never really put much thought in it. I go, do my thing, and reluctantly come back. Writing on travel however, together with your lovely comments, got me thinking about this, so without further ado, I proudly present the Anti Tourist Test!

Check it out:

- Do you travel to experience the culture and lifestyle of different peoples, with an open mind and heart?

- Do you travel to explore rather than to just relax (although you then find exploration to be a relaxing experience in itself)?

- Would you rather make memories than spend more than five minutes in a souvenir shop?

- Would you rather make new friends and ask them for tips on their city than book a tour guide, complete with bright umbrella and stickers?

-  Is grabbing a map and getting 'lost' in a new place one of the highlights of your trips?

- Do you budget on things like accommodation, to be able to spend more on the things that will make your trip memorable? (Food!! Kidding kidding)

- Would you pick the shabby-looking local eatery over the touristy, bright restaurant chain all over town?

- Have you ever stopped, taken a deep breath and simply marveled at your new surroundings?

- At home, are you always filled with an irresistible urge to see more of our planet?

- Do you travel sustainably, keeping in mind that our planet is to be preserved for future generations?

- Finally, does the prospect of exploring new places fill you with adrenaline?

If you've answered yes to any of these 10 questions, congratulations, you're an Anti-Tourist! Here's hoping you'll join the rest of us and our adventures as we trot the globs and write home about it on this little corner of the internet. You can follow the Anti-Tourist adventures on Instagram, Pinterest or Twitter too, and we'd love it if you shared your own adventures too!
