Renting a car abroad - yay or nay?

Renting a car abroad can be an excellent way to get out and explore when you are traveling, but it has its challenges too! Go through this post and check out the pros of car hire; if you agreed with most of them, you know what to do ;)

No relying on Public Transport
One of the top reasons why you should hire a car on holiday is because it’s easier to get around than relying on the public transportation. If there isn’t a local bus stop near your accommodation, you may have to walk for at least a mile or two to find one, and if you do find one, you may have trouble understanding the system, and end up somewhere you don’t know and won’t have a clue how to get back. And don't get me started on buses or trams in mid-summer, jam-packed with sweaty people. No thanks.

Going off the beaten path is easier
With no pre-established route for you, car hire means being able to go and stop wherever you like. You won’t have to worry about booking trips to different areas and having to go on a coach with a hundred other tourists! It’s also good if you plan to cross the country while you are there. You will be able to hire a cheap car to cruise in to the other areas without having to worry about finding public transportation to get you there.

Airport Transfers? No thanks
Airport travel is a hassle at best, and the hassle of arranging transport to and from the airport itself is so extra. Having your own car means you can take all your luggage safely and easily to your hotel. You will also be able to go at your own pace so you can get to the airport or your hotel on time.

Before you go:
Having your own car is a fun and comfortable way to travel, but don't forget to research and make sure you know the roads you'll be traveling well. Check out maps, highway codes, insurance rates and parking rules and obviously, make sure you have all your essential license details with you.

PSA: Don't drive on the wrong side of the road!
