TTI: The World's Largest Adobe City
Chan Chan: no, it's not a flirty French dance, but the world's largest city made entirely out of clay and mud bricks - an adobe city.
This remote Peruvian city once housed an estimated 60,000 people, and was the capital city of the Chimu Empire - not bad for some clay and water. Within its walls, there were houses, temples, storehouses and funeral platforms amongst others, all impeccably decorated with symbols and carvings.
The city survived the test of time thanks to the dry climate of the area, however, today it is at risk because of the changing atmosphere and rise in water levels! But don't worry, climate change is just a myth... right?
