Tuesday Travel Inspiration: Devil's Town

By 07:39:00 , ,

In southern Serbia, 27 km away from the municipality of Kursumlija, lies a unique rock formation - Djavolja Varos - Devil's Town. This rock formation of 202 spiky looking natural pyramids were formed due to the highly acidic water around them. You can read more about the scientific reasons for their creation here.

What gave this natural phenomenon its name is the howling sounds the wind makes as it whooshes through the rocky pillars. The howls and murmurs heard late at night are at the base of many myths and legends which the locals vehemently claim to be true.

Unsurprisingly, the Devil himself has not yet managed to scare off intrepid visitors, so feel free to bookmark this page until you manage to make it to Serbia! Happy Tuesday... and stay inspired :)
