Check In: Affordable Designer at Qbic Amsterdam

If you've been following me for a while, you'll know I always to travel on the lowest budget possible. This means that I often get to try out less inviting sleeping quarters! You can imagine my surprise when I stumbled across Qbic - a brand offering travelers cheap accommodation with a difference.

Their motto is to offer stylish and comfortable rooms at hostel prices, with some rooms being offered at the rate of 38 Euro. I'd been looking for affordable accommodation in Amsterdam for weeks, and Qbic's premise certainly grabbed my attention!

From Schiphol Airport I stopped at Amsterdam Zuid, the hotel being a mere 2 minutes away. The hotel not being in central Amsterdam, I was hesitant at first, but it turned out to be an ideal location - mere steps away from the Metro and only 10 minutes away from Central Station. Perfect!

I was greeted into the lobby by the friendly staff, who efficiently gave me my key and a quick tour of the lobby. Breakfast bar (breakfast is optional, at 12 euro per person), vending machines, computers and board games - a cosy spot to start your day in Amsterdam.

The room itself was all it promised to be - clean, modern, stylish and incredibly comfortable! The rooms are the core of the Qbic concept, each room revolving around a cubic (Q-bic, geddit?) pod, encompassing the huge soft bed and a stark modern bathroom. I even had a beautiful view of the business area of Amsterdam Zuid. Each room has its own character, thanks to the headboard poster - just look at that puppy!

Small note for shy visitors - once the initial excitement of having such a cool room wears off (slightly), you'll realise that the modern design of the bathroom does not include... err... doors. Not to worry though; there's a bathroom just outside the room should you need more privacy!

Qbic definitely exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely look it up for my next trip to London. Booking is easy and fast, and they certainly deliver on the cheap-but-stylish promise. Next time you're looking up shady hostels, check Qbic out first! You're welcome.
