When friends come back home after a long while abroad, I get the feeling that home stops feeling like home. Instead, the streets and views they once knew become fresh ground to explore and relearn, almost foreign. The perfect
excuse opportunity for me to rediscover my own home with them!
That's what we got up to this weekend with Kayleigh and Arange in Gozo. Hailed by Lonely Planet, tourist guides and pretty much anyone who ever stepped foot in it, Malta's sister island is definitely the place to rediscover home.
A roadtrip to some of Gozo's best spots was just what we needed to breathe in the beauty of nature. From Ħondoq ir-Rummien to Mġarr ix-Xini and Dwejra, with ocassional stops along the way to snap another gorgeous shot, or to get our bearings again in the winding roads, melting in each other and getting us slightly lost.
A happy day for shutterbugs like Kayleigh and I, a less happy one for my patient man, who barely avoided getting soaked to get me a decent shot! The result wasn't what I had planned, but came out even better in my opinion -
Sunset by the Azure Window and the Fungus rock was the cherry on the cake of a happy trip, as we sleepily drove back home, the sky above us changing into the most beautiful shades of amber and scarlet. Who needs flights when home looks this pretty?
