The Anti-Tourist

I like to beat new paths for myself.

Strasbourg Diary

By 12:03:00 , ,

A few years back, a couple of college mates and I flew off to Strasbourg to visit the European Parliament. Fun friends and Strasbourg in springtime? Yes please!

Strasbourg is the capital city of the Alsace region, and very close to the French - German border. This made the establishment of several European institutions at Strasbourg historically symbolic and relevant, bridging past tensions within Europe.

European politics apart, the place is beautiful. The historic city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with good reason. Strasbourg was my first time exploring central Europe, and the Grande Ile has the typical quaint buildings and characteristics of the area. The Gothic cathedral is also unmissable with its painstaking detail and humbling architecture. Don't forget to go inside and check out the 18-metre astronomical clock, still functioning today!

Enjoy my small but pretty photo diary of the few days we spent in the vibrant city... have you been to Strasbourg? Did I miss out on anything? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
