The Anti-Tourist

I like to beat new paths for myself.

Boat House, Lunch House

No trip to Gozo, no matter how short, would be complete without a visit to Xlendi, a quaint little beach with clear waters and stunning panoramics (for the brave ones clambering up step after step to reach the top of the cliffs, that is)

There was one more reason I'd been longing to go to Xlendi - The Boat House. I'd heard so many positive reviews about the place that I just couldn't bear not try it. I have to say I wasn't disappointed! Just a stone's throw away from the sandy beach, we were seated immediately under a breezy canopy, where we enjoyed the views and each other's company.

The menu was quite heavy on fish, but still varied. As soon as we ordered, bruschetta and garlic bread landed on our table - they didn't last long though!

As for our mains, they were spectacular. He chose arborio risotto with four different cheeses, three kinds of mushroom, all topped with bacon, while I had penne with fillet chunks. sundried tomatoes and parmesan. The food was, to put it mildly, incredible.

Well satisfied, we strolled along the tourist filled streets.

Too soon, it was time to head back home. Boarding...

...gone! Thanks for the memories, Calypso, we'll be back.
