The Anti-Tourist

I like to beat new paths for myself.

Bella Sicilia

By 13:50:00 , , ,

Having seen the top sights and slowly got better acquainted with our kind local hosts, we spent our last days in Palermo exploring narrow streets, eating fresh cannoli from little-known bakeries, and just enjoying the freedom we felt in those beautiful summer days. You don't need much else in Sicily; it's this peace and Mediterranean vibe that keeps me going back for more.

Palermo is charming, but it has a dark history. In the 1990s, the brutal assassination of Paolo Borsellino and Giovanni Falcone shocked the nation. The two were staunch fighters against the Mafia regime, and they are symbolic of the state's war against organised crime.

Palermo, thank you for the memories! I'll be back.
